This one’s a getting-back-to-the-game piece. Haven’t built a model in around a year and decided to bust this one out of the backlog. Assembled in a couple of hours, sat around for another few months, then finally painted.
Wasn’t going for anything here, just brushing up on my modelmaking technique. Had a mistake on its chest area (where the metallic “scar” is). Was trying to wipe off excess enamel paint with a bud loaded with isopropyl. Suddenly, the lacquer paint rubbed off exposing the grey primer. Didn’t mind it too much.
All the paints are leftovers from an Armored Komodo (ArKom) WW2 paints pack I got when I did my Bf 109 back in 2023. Moderately weathered, but really messed up in the chest area.
Build highlights

- Tight polycaps.
- Joint where neck meets the head unit is (notoriously?) very difficult to work with. It was nearly impossible to separate and re-join, and after painting I just took out the polycap without issue.
- Really good articulation, even after painting.
- Has a little bit of inner frame, feels like it’s 20% of the way to an MG.
- The piece has to be painted (or given a topcoat) IMO. The color is too dark and sanding blemishes will show.
Paint and equipment
- Badger Patriot 105, the trustworthy.
- Random brushes.
- Primer:
- For the primary blue:
- For the lighter blue:
- For the yellow:
- Matte topcoat:
- Weathering mainstays:
- Mr. Hobby Mr. Weathering Color - Brown (WC-02)
- Vallejo RLM01 Silver 71.063
