A Stand user is a character in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (JJBA) known for controlling “Stands”: a manifestation of a person’s “spirit” which possess certain special powers (not unlike superheroes/villains). They were introduced in JJBA Part 3, and are a mainstay of the series moving forward. Nearly all main protagonists, and main and side antagonists of the series are Stand users, and they’re known for dressing quite conspicuously, despite the need for being “undercover” (as Stand users are often sought out and eliminated)
Stands are also typically named after Western bands, albums, or songs.

Jotaro Kujo, the titular character of JJBA Part 3. Behind him is his Stand, Star Platinum, one of the few Stands not named after Western musical corpus. The Stand is named after the Tarot card.
