Difficulty

Honestly not a hard boss. The cursed run I believe is the better challenge here. Despite that, if you’re having trouble, I’ll provide some tips here. Personally took me my first try.

The runback has some hazards (spikes that deal 1 mask of damage), but is straightforward.

Loadout

Traversal skills

  • Clawline. Helps close some gaps and avoid hazards. I think I’ve had instances where I completely dodge some hazardous attacks with the Clawline, and could also possibly help with the area denial web attacks.

Upgrades

  • Needle upgrade 3. Deal more damage / makes the fight shorter. Already did the first two Pale Oil upgrades (see Courier’s Rasher run if you’re having trouble).
  • Pouch Capacity 3 and Tool Damage 4. Makes tools deal significant damage for the fight.
  • Eight masks. Would most probably be doable with fewer plus Shattered Mask, but I don’t like running that once I got more than six masks (then I prefer the Multibinder).

Crest and tools

Just the default loadout I’m using—nothing special, except for a few:

  • Evolved Hunter’s Crest. While I take significant hits in this fight, helps pump up the damage even more.
  • Memory Shard. Helps deal damage when you’re getting dealt damage. Helps compensate for mistakes made particularly from attacks with light damage (1 mask).
  • Cogfly. A recent favorite. Gets a number of hits in when you’re not in range of attacking. Don’t over-rely on its damage as you need to hit to regenerate your silk. Used this on the last phase as it’s more economical (more chances of winning) and ends that phase faster.
  • Magnetite Dice. Saves you sometimes.

Tips

  1. GM Silk’s moveset is rather simple. She only personally does the swiping attack and deals no contact damage herself. The swiping attack is parryable and can help u reposition yourself for the upcoming downwards scissor array.
  2. The spikes in the last phase are pogo-able, much like most other spikes in the game. It could help you sneak some hits in, so don’t be afraid of those.
  3. As tempting as it is, don’t go off the arena at the top. While it’s relatively safe from attacks, the area denial web attack GM Silk does still catches you when you’re off-arena.
  4. The falling boulders in the last phase not only partially obscures the horizontal scissor attacks, but can also be buggy during the transition. I’ve seen these hit me even without any boulders falling or just at the silk string phase of the animation, so be careful.
  5. The area denial web attack deals THREE masks of damage, so avoid as much as possible. Rather get hit by a spike than to be caught in the web.
